Here’s a brief description of John’s Keynote, which is sure to expand on the questions he introduced in the above article:

Who owns the advertising space in an augmented world? What keeps multiple brands from owning the same virtual space? How will people, companies and institutions react on the possibilities and risks arising through mixed realities? John will also elaborate on how Facebook and Google are affecting identity in a way that will be directly mirrored by AR. He thinks that people need to stop thinking that AR is just for gaming or entertainment but it is the way we will literally see the world in the future.

Inside AR 2011: Björn Ekelund of ST-Ericsson To Give Keynote

July 22, 2011

Today we are pleased to announce one of the excellent keynotes we’ll have at this year’s InsideAR 2011, to be delivered by Head of Ecosystems & Research for ST-Ericsson, Björn Ekelund.

Bjorn Ekelund, InsideAR speaker, Ericsson Mobile Platforms

With more than 25 years of experience in the Wireless space, we are thrilled to have an industry veteran like Mr. Ekelund add his insights to our event. Here’s a brief description of his Day 1 Keynote speech:

Augmented reality (AR) pushes all technology boundaries in a mobile device simultaneously: graphics, imaging, software processing, storage and communications. It also combines them in entirely new ways. This has a fundamental impact on chipset platform architecture, which is traditionally use-case optimized.

Mobile AR includes also cloud services, thus making the architectural trade-offs even more complex. With state-of-the art tablets and smartphones having multi-core multi-GHz processors and being capable of up to 100Mbit/s data connections, local processing can be efficiently combined with powerful cloud services such as payment, mapping, pattern matching or content hosting.

Over the coming weeks we’ll be releasing more and more information on this year’s Inside AR in Munich, Sept 26-27, including speaking sessions, activities, and other Keynote speakers.
