A guest post by Emily Wachelka

Meet Andreas – an amateur chef with star trek visions!

Andreas works in the SDK team in the Munich offices, working mostly on new Metaio SDK features/bugfixes on all platforms, and giving support to customers (outside and inside the company ). After completing a dual study for a B.Sc. in Applied Computer Science at the DHBW in Stuttgart and with Hewlett-Packard, Andreas earned his M.Sc. in Informatics at the Technical University in Munich. Metaio is his first full time job, and according to him, he’s really enjoying it so far!

How did you find your way to Metaio?

A Metaio working student and friend of mine recommended it to me, and upon having the choice between different companies, I opted for Metaio because I really liked the Augmented Reality topic and the future colleagues that I’ve previously met on the insideAR conference.

What did you like most about working for Metaio?

There are always new challenges in my work – absolutely no day is like the other. Plus there are a bunch of nice and fun people here!

What do you do when you’re not Augmenting Reality?

I love to do sports, such as running and going to the gym. Whenever I have a little more time, I like to try new cooking recipes, especially cakes and casseroles.

Is there any tradition at Metaio which you like the most?

I like the tradition of singing for people’s birthdays and special events, and wish them “luck and blessing” with a German song. Though I’m not sure if the choir is getting better or worse over time…

Which one is your most favourite Augmented Reality experience, and why?

Definitely the Star Trek holodeck! We just didn’t invent it yet… I’m sure a prototype could be done with our partner Vuzix and some kind of endless treadmill. :-)
