Smart Packaging

The brand LEGO for me is a symbol for the power of imagination, creativity, childhood and many, many more positive connoted things. And because I am not the only one who created infinite worlds and unbelievable stories with the coloured bricks, I want to share a phantastic implementation of augmented reality technology with you. Adding another chapter to the story. DIGITAL BOX, an interactive terminal at the POS, combines a novel user experience and a very functional approach to information design. Because the 3D-animations shown on the packaging, within the hands of the customers in real-time, are not only fascinating, they have a clear benefit towards a 2D picture. You get a way better impression of how the product will look like and what specials it has. And I think, once you have a smart packaged box in your hands, you´d rather go to the counter than back to the shelf. More information can be found here.

There are many definitions of what augmented reality could be. Nevertheless and without magic glasses I really think we will see a lot of cool applications and products or campaigns at the interface between the real and the virtual world this year. You don´t have to be a clairvoyant for this prediction. So, wait and see…
