Something in the Air
August 12, 2008
I´m far away of beeing a chain link in the upcoming hype cycle about mobile augmented reality. But more and more mobile tracking movies on youtube for example or diverse requests from around the world might be an indicator. But still there is this thing called reality, and it is related to a thing – let´s call it hardware latency – or another: availability. If you want to implement location based services on mobile phones (touchscreens, built-in cameras, GPS, GPRS etc.) , there are still many hurdles to be taken: orientation (exact pose), computing power, content delivery (flatrates advised), markerless tracking (have fun!) or compatibility. Nevertheless I want to keep an eye on the progress for the next months. It will definitely be one next nice and maybe big thing. At least I´m gonna find more and more nice layouts and big concepts like the one from Mac Funamizu.
Do you have something to submit? You´re welcome!

hi! I’ve something to submit :$
It’s my final degree (computer science engineer) project… I’m working on a AR environment for developing prototypes and to do research.
This is it’s actual state: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vmZRmGeWZas
Working with OpenCV for tracking, OpenGL for graphics.
I hope you like it:)
See you!

Benvinguts! Well, although it is not really a mobile AR demo, thank you very much. Keep it up!

Nice post. I just glanced through it. Maybe I can really read it later
